Angel Aleman, Lydia Hernandez and a dog found dead after shooting near Mackenzie Park in Lubbock

Lubbock, TX – The Lubbock Metro Special Crimes Unit is actively investigating a double homicide and the death of a dog that occurred in East Lubbock on September 10th.
According to police reports, officers were called to a shots fired incident in the 300 block of Cesar E. Chavez Drive around 8:18 a.m.
Upon arrival, they discovered 55-year-old Angel Aleman deceased at the scene.
A 47-year-old woman, Lydia Hernandez, was also found with serious injuries and was transported to University Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her wounds.
In addition to the human fatalities, a dog belonging to Aleman was found dead at the scene.
The Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Unit and the Lubbock Police Department’s Forensic Unit are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
While no arrests have been made at this time, authorities believe the incident to be isolated and not a random act of violence.

Merced Police Investigating Shooting Near Merino Park, One Person in Custody

Merced Police Department officers are actively investigating a shooting that occurred near Merino Park in North Merced on Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area following multiple reports of gunfire in the vicinity of the park.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a gunshot victim near the intersection of Morning Dove Avenue and Sunrise Drive, just east of Merino Park.
First responders rendered aid at the scene before the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The extent of the victim’s injuries has not yet been disclosed.
A short time later, officers detained an individual in the surrounding area.
At this time, it remains unclear whether the person taken into custody is the suspected shooter or otherwise involved in the incident.
Authorities have not released any additional details regarding a motive or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
Investigators remain on scene, canvassing the area and gathering evidence.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
The Merced Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
