UC Davis Student Lincoln Sabini Killed Following Collision on West Campus
DAVIS, Calif. — Authorities have identified the University of California, Davis student who was fatally struck while riding his bicycle near campus housing earlier this week.
The Solano County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as 20-year-old Lincoln Sabini, a sophomore at UC Davis and a graduate of McClatchy High School in Sacramento.
According to the UC Davis Police Department, the incident occurred Monday afternoon along Hutchinson Drive near the West Village student housing area.
Investigators reported that Sabini was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle under circumstances that remain under investigation.
Emergency responders transported Sabini to a nearby hospital for treatment; however, he later succumbed to his injuries.
In a statement released Tuesday, the university expressed its condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and all who are affected by this tragic loss.”
Sabini was actively involved in academic and research work during his time at UC Davis.
He served as a laboratory aide, where he assisted in collecting and processing plant samples and contributed to experimental design.
He also gained field experience as an intern in California’s Salinas Valley.
UC Davis police major accident investigators are working in coordination with other agencies to determine the cause of the crash.
Authorities have not indicated whether the driver involved has been arrested or cited.
In response to the tragedy, the university has made counseling and support services available to students, faculty, and staff.
Students in need of immediate mental health assistance are encouraged to contact Student Health and Counseling Services at 530-752-0871. Faculty and staff may seek support through the Academic and Staff Assistance Program, which serves both the Davis and Sacramento campuses.

Train Derails in Ferguson Involving Vehicles, Hazmat Team Called Over Ethyl Alcohol Rail Car
FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
At this time, authorities have not released details about possible injuries, the cause of the derailment or the extent of damage.
The investigation and emergency response remain ongoing in Ferguson, and officials are expected to provide additional information once the scene has been fully assessed.
