28-Year-Old Jeremy Debias Jr Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Butler Township
BUTLER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY — Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Wednesday night in Butler Township, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old man.
According to a release from Butler Township Police, Jeremy J. Debias Jr., of Drums, was pronounced dead at approximately 10:20 p.m. on St. Johns Road.
Preliminary information indicates that Debias was operating a motorcycle when it left the roadway while navigating a slight curve.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
Police reported that concerned family members initiated a search after Debias failed to return home as expected.
During that search, his motorcycle was discovered in a field, prompting a response from emergency services.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Sugarloaf Township Police and Fire, Valley Regional Fire and Rescue, and Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and no additional details have been released at this time.

FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
