36-year-old Ashley Kornegay killed after SUV leaves roadway, hits tree in Tuscaloosa County
TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. — A 36-year-old woman was killed and three other individuals, including two teenagers, were injured in a late-night crash Saturday in Tuscaloosa County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
The collision occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. along Alabama Highway 216, about five miles east of Tuscaloosa.
Authorities identified the victim as Ashley M. Kornegay, who was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
ALEA officials reported that three additional occupants in the vehicle—a 35-year-old adult, a 19-year-old, and a 14-year-old—were also injured.
The 35-year-old and 19-year-old were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment, while the 14-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital.
The extent of their injuries has not been publicly disclosed.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.

FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
At this time, authorities have not released details about possible injuries, the cause of the derailment or the extent of damage.
