19-Year-Old Jacob Buman Killed in Shelby County Motorcycle Crash After Collision with Field Sprayer Road M-16 Iowa

SHELBY COUNTY, Iowa — A tragic motorcycle crash in rural Shelby County claimed the life of a 19-year-old rider Wednesday evening after his bike collided with a farm vehicle, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Authorities identified the victim as Jacob Buman, of Harlan.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m. on Shelby County Road M-16, just north of the city of Shelby.

Preliminary reports indicate that Buman was traveling northbound on a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle when he struck the rear of a 2010 Apache 715 field sprayer.

The agricultural vehicle, operated by Luke Applegate, 37, of Shelby, was also traveling northbound and had begun making a left turn into a private driveway at the time of the collision.
