35-year-old Cody Marston killed after motorcycle crash in Crockery Township
CROCKERY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 35-year-old motorcyclist from Spring Lake, identified as Cody Marston, died early Sunday morning following a crash involving a pickup truck in Crockery Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded just before 12:30 a.m. to reports of a motorcycle-versus-vehicle collision on State Road, west of 136th Avenue.
Upon arrival, first responders located Marston with severe injuries after being separated from his motorcycle during the impact.
Preliminary findings indicate that Marston was traveling westbound on State Road when the crash occurred.
At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 39-year-old Kalamazoo man, with two passengers inside, was backing out of a private driveway onto the roadway.
Investigators say Marston accelerated and attempted to pass the truck on the right side.
During that maneuver, his motorcycle collided with the front corner of the pickup truck, resulting in a violent impact.
Emergency personnel immediately initiated life-saving measures at the scene.
Despite those efforts, Marston was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck and both passengers were not injured in the crash.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident to determine all contributing factors.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding speed, visibility conditions, or whether any additional circumstances played a role in the collision.
Officials urge anyone with information about the crash to come forward as the investigation remains active.

Train Derails in Ferguson Involving Vehicles, Hazmat Team Called Over Ethyl Alcohol Rail Car
FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
At this time, authorities have not released details about possible injuries, the cause of the derailment or the extent of damage.
The investigation and emergency response remain ongoing in Ferguson, and officials are expected to provide additional information once the scene has been fully assessed.
