21-year-old Zackery May Killed in motorcycle crash on Elm Hill Road in Paris
PARIS, Maine — A 21-year-old man from Paris was killed Tuesday afternoon following a fatal motorcycle crash involving a pickup truck, according to the Paris Police Department.
Police Chief Michael Ward said the collision occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Elm Hill Road in Paris.
Investigators say Zackery May, 21, was operating a motorcycle traveling southbound when he lost control of the bike before colliding with a northbound pickup truck.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and attempted to assist the rider, but May suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities confirmed.
The driver of the pickup truck has not been publicly identified, and no additional injuries were immediately reported.
According to Chief Ward, preliminary findings indicate that speed and driver inexperience may have contributed to the crash. Investigators continue working to determine the exact circumstances that caused the motorcycle to lose control before the collision.
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a detailed crash reconstruction investigation to analyze the scene and gather additional evidence.
Authorities said the Windham Police Department and Norway Police Department assisted at the scene during the emergency response and investigation.
The tragic loss of Zackery May has left family members, friends, and the local community grieving the death of a young man whose life ended far too soon.

Train Derails in Ferguson Involving Vehicles, Hazmat Team Called Over Ethyl Alcohol Rail Car
FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
