16-year-old Andrew Sober dies from injuries sustained in single-vehicle crash in Baltimore County
COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — A second teenager has died following a devastating single-vehicle crash in Baltimore County that left four teens critically injured last week.
Authorities confirmed that 16-year-old Andrew Holden Sober succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, days after the crash occurred in Cockeysville.
His death comes after 18-year-old Ryan Duvall was also killed as a result of the collision.
According to investigators, the crash happened Friday night when the vehicle the teens were traveling in was heading south on Poplar Hill Road before leaving the roadway and crashing into a tree.
Police have not yet released the exact cause of the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Friends, family members, and organizers connected to fundraising campaigns for the victims said the four teens had been returning home after spending time eating and playing golf before the tragic accident occurred.
The crash has deeply impacted the Calvert Hall College High School community, where several of the teens are students.
In a letter sent to families, Calvert Hall principal Dr. Andrew Moore confirmed that the two surviving teens involved in the crash — 16-year-old Liam O’Donoghue and Orion Kicklighter — are continuing to recover and have shown signs of improvement.
Dr. Moore stated there is hope both teens may soon be moved out of intensive care, offering a small measure of encouragement amid the tragedy.
“During these unimaginably difficult days, we continue to offer them our deepest prayers, compassion, and support,” Moore wrote in the message to families.
The injuries suffered by the surviving teens were described as severe.
According to updates shared by supporters, Liam O’Donoghue, a student-athlete at Calvert Hall, lost his left arm in the crash and will require a prosthetic replacement. He also sustained two fractured femurs and faces a long recovery process that will include learning how to walk again.
The deaths of Andrew Holden Sober and Ryan Duvall have prompted an outpouring of grief throughout the community, with classmates, teachers, friends, and family members mourning the loss of two young lives.
Baltimore County Police continue to investigate the crash and have not yet announced whether speed, impairment, or other contributing factors played a role in the collision.

Train Derails in Ferguson Involving Vehicles, Hazmat Team Called Over Ethyl Alcohol Rail Car
FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
At this time, authorities have not released details about possible injuries, the cause of the derailment or the extent of damage.
The investigation and emergency response remain ongoing in Ferguson, and officials are expected to provide additional information once the scene has been fully assessed.
