26-year-old Joseph Williams Jr Killed in Midland Rollover Crash After Ford Bronco Strikes Roadside Rock
Joseph Williams Jr., 26, of Midland, died Wednesday night following a single-vehicle rollover crash in the city, according to the Midland Police Department.
Police said officers responded to the crash scene at approximately 9:22 p.m. on May 6, 2026, in the 500 block of East Stokes Avenue after reports of a serious rollover accident involving a white 2022 Ford Bronco.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Williams was traveling eastbound along East Stokes Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a large rock located along the roadside.
Authorities said the impact caused the Ford Bronco to overturn. Williams suffered life-threatening injuries in the violent crash.
Emergency crews with Midland Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported Williams to Midland Memorial Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the collision.
Officials confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
The crash remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine what factors may have contributed to the vehicle leaving the roadway.

FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
