14-year-old Jaxson Worthington Killed in Bicycle Crash on Cannon Bridge Road in Orangeburg County
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have identified a 14-year-old boy who was killed in an overnight crash involving a bicycle and a passenger vehicle in Orangeburg County.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred on Cannon Bridge Road near Riley Road at approximately 9 p.m.
Corporal Nick Pye said the crash involved a bicyclist and a 2001 Honda sedan traveling along Cannon Bridge Road.
Investigators said the bicyclist was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of the roadway while the Honda sedan was traveling southbound when the two collided.
Sean Fogle identified the victim as 14-year-old Jaxson E. Worthington of Cordova, South Carolina.
Authorities said Worthington suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda sedan was not injured in the collision, officials said.
Emergency crews responded to the crash scene and portions of the roadway were impacted as investigators gathered evidence and documented the incident.
The fatal bicycle crash remains under active investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol as authorities continue working to determine all circumstances surrounding the collision on Cannon Bridge Road near Riley Road.

Train Derails in Ferguson Involving Vehicles, Hazmat Team Called Over Ethyl Alcohol Rail Car
FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
At this time, authorities have not released details about possible injuries, the cause of the derailment or the extent of damage.
The investigation and emergency response remain ongoing in Ferguson, and officials are expected to provide additional information once the scene has been fully assessed.
