Suspect Jabari Bush charged with murder in shooting death of Bridgeport firefighter Terrence Cramer in Stratford
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Connecticut man has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of an off-duty Bridgeport firefighter early Saturday morning in Stratford, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Feeley Street. Upon arrival, responding Stratford Police officers located Terrence Cramer, 41, suffering from a severe gunshot wound and bleeding heavily.
Despite immediate response efforts, Cramer was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter by emergency medical personnel.
According to the Stratford Police Department, Cramer had served as an active-duty firefighter with the City of Bridgeport for nearly a decade, earning recognition for his commitment and service to the community.
Later that day, authorities apprehended 41-year-old Jabari Bush in Derby, Connecticut, following a brief motor vehicle pursuit.
Bush has been formally charged with murder, home invasion, and criminal possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting.
He is currently being held on a $2 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, March 30.
Acting Fire Chief Lance Edwards and the Bridgeport Fire Department released a statement expressing profound grief over the loss:
“Chief Edwards and the members of the Bridgeport Fire Department are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Firefighter Terrence Cramer. Firefighter Cramer served the City of Bridgeport with dedication and honor for 9.5 years, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and safety of others. He was not only a valued member of our department, but also a friend, colleague, and public servant who will be greatly missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Bridgeport Mayor Joseph Ganim also issued a statement honoring Cramer’s service, noting:
“His service reflects the very best of what it means to wear the uniform and answer the call of duty. He was a proud public servant whose loss will be felt deeply across our entire city.”
In addition, Local 834 of the firefighters’ union paid tribute to Cramer, highlighting both his professional dedication and personal character.
The statement noted that he spent his entire career assigned to Engine/Ladder 6 and was widely respected among his peers.
Cramer is survived by two sons. Colleagues described him as a devoted father, a dependable firefighter, and a friend to all within the department.
His humility and ever-present smile, they said, left a lasting impression on those who served alongside him.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting, and the investigation remains active.

14-Year-Old Middleton High School Student Carson Chrapkowski Dies After Bicycle Crash, Driver Alyssa Anderson Arrested
MIDDLETON, Idaho — A 14-year-old Middleton High School student has died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the high school Friday night, according to the Middleton Police Department.
The teenager was transported by Life Flight to St. Luke’s Boise following the crash but died from his injuries early Saturday morning.
Middleton police said the crash involved a vehicle and a bicyclist near Middleton High School. The 14-year-old suffered critical injuries and was flown to a Boise hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Police announced Saturday morning that the young bicyclist had succumbed to his injuries.
The teen was identified in the information provided for this report as Carson Chrapkowski, a Middleton High School student. However, the police department’s public statement did not release the teenager’s name.
Police arrested 41-year-old Alyssa Louise Anderson in connection with the crash. Anderson was booked into the Canyon County Jail.
According to police, Anderson is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision or the specific allegations supporting the DUI charge.
The crash remains under investigation by the Middleton Police Department and Idaho State Police. Investigators have not released further information about the sequence of events or whether additional charges could be filed.
