TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Newly released witness accounts and dramatic cellphone video are shedding light on the actions of an armed citizen who reportedly confronted a gunman during the deadly mass shooting outside a newly opened In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Authorities say three people were killed and seven others were injured after a gunman opened fire outside the restaurant, which had been open for less than two weeks.

Police believe the suspected shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators have not yet released the suspect’s identity or disclosed a possible motive for the attack.

Video recorded by a witness captured the chaotic moments as an armed civilian exchanged gunfire with the suspect outside the restaurant while terrified customers and employees fled for safety.

Multiple witnesses identified the armed citizen as Jordan Salinas, who was seen drawing a handgun and returning fire while the suspect continued shooting.

The footage appears to show Salinas briefly stumbling and taking cover in nearby bushes before getting back up and continuing to move toward the gunman.

The handgun visible in the video appears to have been equipped with what witnesses described as a suppressor, though law enforcement has not confirmed any details regarding the firearm used by Salinas.

Witness Lane Koehn, who recorded part of the incident from inside a vehicle, said the armed citizen’s actions may have helped save lives by diverting the gunman’s attention long enough for diners and restaurant employees to escape the area.

Authorities have not publicly stated whether Salinas struck the suspect or officially credited his actions with preventing additional casualties. The investigation remains active.

According to the Twin Falls Police Department, the shooting left three people dead and seven others injured.

One video from the scene reportedly shows the gunman firing into a Tesla parked near the restaurant.

Family members told media outlets that Terry Dudley, who was inside a blue Tesla, was shot during the attack. He underwent surgery and was reported to be in stable condition.

Relatives connected to the occupants of a gray Tesla said the driver was killed in the shooting, while the passenger survived and continues to receive medical treatment.

Officials have not yet released the identities of all victims, and no motive has been announced.

Following the shooting, social media users circulated a 2024 post reportedly made by Jordan Salinas showing him training with what appeared to be a firearm similar to the one seen in the viral video.

The post included a message encouraging firearms training and preparedness. Since the shooting, many online commenters have highlighted the post while praising Salinas for reportedly placing himself in harm’s way during the attack.

The Twin Falls Police Department continues to investigate the deadly shooting. Detectives are processing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to determine what led to the attack.

As of this report, authorities have not released the suspected gunman’s name, and investigators have not confirmed whether the armed citizen’s intervention directly prevented further loss of life.

The information regarding Jordan Salinas’ actions is based on witness accounts and publicly circulated video.

Law enforcement has not yet issued an official statement detailing his role in the incident or whether he fired the shots that ultimately stopped the suspect.

The tragedy has left the Twin Falls community mourning the victims while investigators continue working to establish a complete timeline of one of Idaho’s deadliest recent mass shootings.
