38-Year-Old Jeanine John Taele Arrested Outside Trump National Golf Club Before President Trump’s Visit in Rancho Verdes
RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. — A heavily armed man was arrested near Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes ahead of President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to Southern California, prompting a multi-agency investigation involving local law enforcement, the U.S. Secret Service, and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Authorities identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele, who also goes by “Johnny.”
Investigators said Taele, a Downey resident and military veteran, was taken into custody after allegedly being found on or near the golf club property while armed and documenting security preparations before the president’s arrival.
President Trump arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening aboard Air Force One for a Republican National Committee fundraising event at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Officials disclosed that Taele had been arrested several days earlier after security personnel observed suspicious activity at the property. Investigators allege the suspect had been photographing security measures and lingering around the golf club before Trump’s visit.
Law enforcement arrested Taele on charges of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.
According to investigators, a subsequent search uncovered an extensive cache of weapons and tactical equipment allegedly connected to the suspect.
Authorities reported recovering:
An illegally modified AR-style rifle
A .45-caliber pistol
Body armor
High-capacity magazines
Large quantities of rifle and handgun ammunition
Radio communication devices
Notebooks containing what investigators described as “concerning statements”
The evidence prompted additional review by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, which is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are continuing to examine the suspect’s background, motives, and the contents of the recovered notebooks.
Despite the significant number of weapons recovered, officials said investigators have not identified a credible threat to the public at this time.
Law enforcement has not publicly stated whether Taele specifically intended to target President Trump, and investigators continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following the arrest, President Trump safely arrived in Los Angeles and proceeded to attend the scheduled Republican National Committee fundraising event at Trump National Golf Club.
Security operations surrounding the president’s visit remained in place, and officials reported no disruption to the event.
The investigation remains active as federal and local authorities continue reviewing evidence recovered from the suspect, including electronic devices, weapons, and written materials.
Officials have not announced any additional charges, and more information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.

CHICAGO — A 47-year-old mother and her 27-year-old son were fatally shot inside a residence in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood on the West Side late Thursday night, September 24, 2026, according to Chicago police.
The victims were identified as Angela Johnson, 47, and DeAngelo Johnson, 27. Police said a suspect, identified as Angela Johnson’s boyfriend, was taken into custody following the shooting.
The deadly shooting happened in the 800 block of North Parkside Avenue at approximately 10:43 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots coming from the basement of the residence and called 911.

Angela Johnson was found in the basement with a gunshot wound to her chest. Police-radio traffic indicated she had been shot on the right side of her chest.
DeAngelo Johnson was found on the first floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Radio traffic indicated that he had suffered two gunshot wounds to his back.
Both victims were initially unresponsive and in critical condition. Emergency personnel performed CPR on DeAngelo Johnson before both victims were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Authorities have not publicly stated who owned the firearms or confirmed which weapon, if either, was used in the fatal shooting.
Police also reported that DeAngelo Johnson was wearing an empty holster when officers found him on the first floor. That discovery prompted an officer-safety alert as officers searched the residence for the missing firearm.
Chicago police said the shooting appeared to be domestic-related and identified the alleged offender as the mother’s boyfriend.
