TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Authorities have identified the gunman responsible for the deadly mass shooting at the newly opened In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls as 24-year-old Chad Williams, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the attack.

According to the Twin Falls Police Department, Williams is believed to have acted alone when he opened fire outside the popular restaurant on Saturday, leaving three victims dead and seven others injured.

Police clarified that the official death toll of three does not include the suspected shooter. Including Williams, the total number of deaths in the incident is four.

The shooting occurred at the In-N-Out Burger that had opened on July 24, making the restaurant less than two weeks old at the time of the tragedy.

Officials said seven people suffered gunshot wounds during the attack.

As of the latest update:

• Two victims have been released from the hospital.
• Three remain hospitalized in stable condition.
• Two victims remain in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of all victims.

Among those injured is Steven Pixley, who was confirmed to have been wounded during the shooting.

Another survivor, Terry Dudley, was shot while inside a blue Tesla parked near the restaurant. Family members said he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

Relatives connected to a gray Tesla involved in the incident said the driver was killed during the shooting, while the passenger survived and continues receiving medical treatment.

One of the three victims killed in the shooting has been identified as Ashley, an employee at the Twin Falls In-N-Out.

In a statement released shortly after midnight Sunday, In-N-Out Burger owner Lynsi Snyder expressed grief over the loss of the employee.

“My heart is broken, my chest is heavy, my eyes burn from the tears I’ve shed. We lost one of our beautiful Associates tonight.”

Snyder also praised Ashley’s dedication to serving customers.

“She was taking care of our most important asset—our customers—and her life was taken by a disgusting human who doesn’t value the lives of others or his own.”

She added that the company would stand beside the victims’ families during the difficult days ahead.

“In-N-Out will be mourning with the families and praying for them as they tread through a very painful season.”

Dramatic cellphone video captured during the shooting has focused national attention on Jordan Salinas, an armed citizen who witnesses say confronted the gunman as the attack unfolded.

Video recorded outside the restaurant appears to show Salinas drawing his handgun and exchanging gunfire with Chad Williams while customers and employees fled the scene.

Witness Lane Koehn, who filmed part of the confrontation from his vehicle, said Salinas’ actions may have distracted the shooter long enough for numerous people to escape.

The footage shows Salinas advancing toward the suspect despite incoming gunfire. At one point he appears to stumble into nearby bushes before recovering and continuing to move toward the shooter.

Multiple witnesses identified Salinas as the armed civilian seen in the widely circulated video.

However, Twin Falls police have not officially confirmed whether Salinas struck the suspect or whether his intervention directly prevented additional casualties. Authorities have also not released an official timeline detailing the civilian response.

Police continue to investigate what led Chad Williams to carry out the shooting.

At this time, investigators have not announced a motive, and detectives are continuing to interview witnesses, review surveillance footage, and process evidence collected at the scene.

Officials have stated that Williams is believed to have acted alone.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced Sunday that it is assisting with the investigation and is asking members of the public to submit photos, videos, and other digital evidence recorded during or immediately before the shooting.

Investigators hope the additional footage will help establish a complete timeline of the attack and provide further insight into the suspect’s movements before and during the shooting.

The Twin Falls In-N-Out Burger had opened July 24 as part of the California-based restaurant chain’s expansion into Idaho.

The restaurant quickly became a popular destination in Twin Falls, a city of approximately 56,000 residents located about 130 miles southeast of Boise and roughly 75 miles north of the Nevada border.

The mass shooting has left the Twin Falls community mourning multiple victims while law enforcement agencies continue their investigation into one of Idaho’s deadliest recent acts of gun violence.
